Bailey was not thrilled to get a bath today. As usual, she acted like I was killing her while she was getting soaped up and rinsed, then shook like crazy when I released her in the back yard, spraying water out of her fur in all directions. She is getting a little older, in years past she would run barking for half an hour to release the tension from her terrible ordeal. This time, she just kind of walked around in the sun a bit.
Once in a while I feel sorry for myself, with my little aches and pains and challenges. Last week I was walking on a crushed limestone path in a forest preserve when I heard a sound coming from behind me.
First a Husky dog wearing a harness emerged from the trees, followed by about 20 feet of Flexi leash, and then I was surprised to see an elderly gentleman in a battery operated wheelchair. It was one of those heavy duty all terrain type vehicles. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes.
When I want to walk in the woods, I grab my camera and pop in the car and go. When he wants to go, he has quite a bit of challenge just loading up and getting there.
If the desire is strong enough, you still go.
