I am writing this mainly to include a link to the Schaumburg Area Photographic Society web site so it gets crawled.

Drying Time

Bailey was not thrilled to get a bath today. As usual, she acted like I was killing her while she was getting soaped up and rinsed, then shook like crazy when I released her in the back yard, spraying water out of her fur in all directions. She is getting a little older, in years past she would run barking for half an hour to release the tension from her terrible ordeal. This time, she just kind of walked around in the sun a bit.

Once in a while I feel sorry for myself, with my little aches and pains and challenges. Last week I was walking on a crushed limestone path in a forest preserve when I heard a sound coming from behind me.

First a Husky dog wearing a harness emerged from the trees, followed by about 20 feet of Flexi leash, and then I was surprised to see an elderly gentleman in a battery operated wheelchair. It was one of those heavy duty all terrain type vehicles. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes.

When I want to walk in the woods, I grab my camera and pop in the car and go. When he wants to go, he has quite a bit of challenge just loading up and getting there.

If the desire is strong enough, you still go.

It's been raining for the last few days, so I haven't been out walking. Housework and socializing have replaced it this week.

Nicole has called me from St. John every day to fill me in on their activities, which I really appreciate. It's like having a virtual vacation.

Today is Nicole's and Derek's second wedding anniversary.

I had an amazing walk this morning. I was able to get photos of Bluebirds and Indigo Bunting, and some more wildflowers I have not seen before. I also saw a person in a cow costume.

I love barns. Maybe I will drive around and get some pictures of them.

I just love the traffic sign next to this little foot bridge. The fact that some guy blundered into my shot made it even better.

This morning I spent a couple hours at Pratt's Wayne Woods. Saw more typical woodland stuff. You're bored hearing about it, but I see something new and different every day.

I almost got back in the car after my first look at Meacham Grove Forest Preserve. It looked so...urban.

But I kept walking and saw a lot of wildflowers I've not seen before, herons and cranes, bullfrogs, and a variety of songbirds.

Forgot to bring water and I was feeling it toward the end, but they had a fountain in the parking lot.

I thought this image had a nice portrait quality, even though it was captured at the trot during the USEF Trials.

I'm sitting around the house today waiting for the plumber, so no hiking and picture snapping for me.
